Washington — The House on Thursday passed the signature piece of legislation of Trump’s second term, approving a massive bill that includes trillions of dollars in tax and spending cuts while ramping up funding for defense and implementing the administration’s immigration agenda. The lower chamber voted 218 to 214 to approve the measure, with two Republicans — Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania — joining all Democrats in opposing the bill. The Senate passed the legislation – 53-53 with Vice President JD Vance broke the tie to pass the bill, dubbed the “big, beautiful bill,” earlier this week. The election of DNC officers – including Chair, Vice Chairs, Treasurer, Secretary and National Finance Chair – took place on February 1. 2025 and was held in National Harbor, Maryland. New DNC Chair Ken Martin was elected on the first ballot with a majority of the voting DNC members. Addressing the members after the election, he said: “We have one team, the Democratic Party, and we have one fight. The fight’s not in here, it’s out there.
