Primary elections are where real choices are made. If you want meaningful influence – not just a symbolic vote where other voters make the choice for whom you may vote for in the General Election, the Primary Election is where your voice often matters the most! Remember: Vote in every election! Early/In-Person Voting continues this week:
- Monday, April 27 – 7:30am-7:30pm
- Tuesday, April 28 – 7:30am-8:30pm
- Wednesday, April 29-Friday, May 1 – 7:30am-7:30pm
- Saturday, May 2 – 8:00am-4:00pm
- Sunday, May 3 – 1:00pm-5:00pm.
Key reasons to vote in a Primary Election:
- You choose the candidates, not just the final winner. Primaries decide which candidates make it to the General Election ballot. Voting in the Primary Election means influencing your options early instead of settling for choices made by others.
- Your vote has an outsized impact. With far fewer voters participating, each primary vote carries more weight. This is especially true in local and state races that directly affect your daily life.
- The primaray is often the real election. In many districts, the primary winner is all but guaranteed victory in the November General Election. Skipping the primary can be skipping the only vote that truly counts.
- You shape the direction of power and policy. Primary voters influence which ideas, priorities and leadership styles move forward. Participation here helps determine whether parties reward extremism or broader representation.
