Meet Judge Zayas

“Now is the time to stand up for Ohio. We need accountability, not party politics.”

I grew up in a tough neighborhood once known as ‘Crack City USA.’ My mother, who never finished eighth grade, migrated from Puerto Rico and taught us that hard work, education, and integrity were the path to the American Dream. I commuted four hours a day to finish college. My oldest brother had a distinguished career in law enforcement until he was injured in the line
of duty. My other two brothers went into education.

More than 30 years ago, when I first crossed into Ohio and saw the skyline, I knew this was home. I began my career as an IT manager at Procter & Gamble, and later used my savings to
attend law school at the University of Cincinnati so I could serve people during their hardest moments.

As an attorney, I practiced in both the private and public sectors before building my own firm, representing clients from all walks of life. In 2016, as a true political outsider, I ran for the Court of
Appeals committed to applying the law, facts, and Constitution—and nothing else. In 2022, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association awarded me its highest judicial rating of ‘excellent.’ I
have also led initiatives to reduce costs and expand access to the courts.

I pledge to bring common sense, leave politics at the door, ensure fair access, and rule based solely on the law and facts. At a time when confidence in our judiciary is eroding, independence is
essential. I believe that Ohio Supreme Court should a beacon of integrity and accountability, free from outside influence. I enter this race as a judge whose record has earned trust across political lines.

Why Judge Zayas?

Judicial Independence and Impartiality

Judge Zayas has served nearly nine years on Ohio’s First District Court of Appeals, earning widespread respect for her ethical decision-making and commitment to fair, impartial justice that prioritizes the law over politics—earning support from those who value accountability and balance in the judiciary.

Extraordinary Vote of Confidence

In 2025, Ohio’s Chief Justice appointed her three times in just 40 days to sit on the Supreme Court, a rare honor reflecting her expertise and unbiased approach, demonstrating trust from the highest levels of the state’s legal system.

Nationally Recognized for Excellence

Named the 2024 Hispanic National Bar Association Latina Judge of the Year and featured on Good Morning America for her judicial excellence and inspirational student program, Educating Tomorrow’s Leaders, showcasing her as a role model who promotes education and opportunity for all.

Stands up for all Ohioans

Judge Zayas believes that Ohio Supreme Court should be a beacon of integrity and accountability, free from outside influence. Her judicial record has earned trust across political lines.

Embodiment of the American Dream

Raised in a tough neighborhood known as ‘Crack City USA’ by a mother who migrated from Puerto Rico and was unable to finish eighth grade. Judge Zayas learned the values of hard work, education, and integrity, which propelled her own journey from humble beginnings to judicial leadership. Judge Zayas believes that you deserve the American dream.

Political Outsider with Proven Integrity

Ran for the Court of Appeals in 2016 as a true outsider, committed solely to applying the law, facts, and Constitution; earned the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association highest excellent rating in 2022 for her outstanding performance.

Expanded Access to Justice

Judge Zayas led initiatives to reduce court costs and broaden access, ensuring the legal system works for everyday Ohioans regardless of background—aligning with bipartisan goals of efficiency, fairness, and inclusivity in government.

Dedication to Education and Perseverance

Commuted four hours a day to complete college, then used her savings to attend the University of Cincinnati College of Law, driven by a desire to serve others during their hardest moments.

Diverse Professional Experience

Began her career as an IT manager at Procter & Gamble, practiced law in both private and public sectors, and built her own firm representing clients from all walks of life, bringing real- world perspective to the bench.
