MEET CHRIS
Chris Redfern is the only Ohio Democratic Party Chairman on record to have served as chairman when the Democratic Party won gubernatorial, U.S. Senate, and two presidential elections. During his 10 years as the Party’s leader, Democrats won 10 Congressional seats and won a majority in the Ohio House of Representatives. The Ohio Democratic Party raised more money and won more races during Redfern’s tenure than at any time in history.
Before becoming party chairman, Chris was the Minority Leader in the Ohio House of Representatives. During Redfern’s term as Minority Leader, he was the first Democratic Leader to oversee multiple gains in the Ohio House of Representatives since former Speaker of the Ohio House Vern Riffe. Redfern was also an Ottawa County commissioner from 1993 to 1999 – the youngest in the state when his term began in 1993.
Chris and his daughter Reese live in Marblehead. He has been a county and state central committee person and chair of the Ottawa County Democratic Party. A strong fundraiser and candidate recruiter, Chris helped elect and reelect Erie County leaders like Tom Ferrell, Bill Monaghan, JoDee Fantozz, Leroy Sizemore and many more.
