Rob has long been an active leader in his community while safeguarding citizens’ money and investments.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Rob is the son of a labor leader RRichardson - Campaign Logoand accountant. At a young age Rob was told by a teacher he would never attend college. Despite that, he went on to earn degrees in electrical engineering and law from the University of Cincinnati, also becoming student body president and founding the school’s collegiate chapter of the NAACP.

After obtaining his law degree with honors, Rob began practicing in Ohio, specializing in securities litigation. Rob has made his livelihood safeguarding billion-dollar pension funds, protecting taxpayer assets, and preventing consumer fraud. He knows from study and experience that special interests take advantage of working people if given the chance, and that government can and should do more to prevent this from happening.

In 2008, Rob was asked by Governor Ted Strickland to serve on the board of trustees at his alma mater. Over the next nine years, Rob helped the University of Cincinnati grow to become the second largest university in Ohio. At age 37, Rob became the youngest Chair in the school’s nearly 200 year history. Along the way he also established the UC Scholars Academy for kids in Cincinnati Public Schools, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for scholarships, and founded the 1819 Innovation Hub: a place where students, faculty, and staff can collaborate with entrepreneurs, startups, and others in the private sector.

Rob led the university in a fiscally responsible way while also making strategic investments that led to unprecedented growth. He knows that money, when used responsibly and efficiently, can do great things for both people and institutions. UC maintained cash reserves of over $200 million throughout Rob’s tenure, and in 2013 it was ranked as the top educational investment in the nation by PolicyMic.

Rob wants you to stand with him in 2018. Together we can build a better Ohio.
